Concrete Slats from New Zealand
On the 21st May, Page Concrete took delivery of two containers from New Zealand containing Pre-stressed concrete Grid Slats produced by Busck, these form the base to the Herd Homes Shelter being installed by Mr Ayre near Tiverton, Devon.
The shelters consist of slats over an underground store for collecting the dung high in nutrients, nitrogen and sulphur producing an excellent fertiliser for returning to the farm.
The curved shelter is made of thick, clear strong plastic, which allows light to pass through. The UV light kills bacteria and fungi, and assists in the drying of the floor and the effluent underneath. With no walls, air flows freely into the shelter giving the cows access to feed from within the Herd Homes® Shelter, while the farmer services these areas from the outside. Feeding out is simple, efficient, quick, and effective.
